MAP+PE

See what happened inside an exposure session.

MAP+PE (Multimodal Affective Psychophysiology for Prolonged Exposure) adapts Attune to Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy for PTSD. It takes a recorded session and lines up what was said, how it was said, the distress ratings (SUDS) and PCL-5 the patient gave, and what their body did, from heart rate and skin conductance recorded during the session. The result is a clear picture of the session, a fidelity record, specific evidence-linked guidance for the next session, and a plain-language summary the clinician can review with the patient.

What it shows

01

Engagement & avoidance

How the imaginal exposure unfolded: SUDS across the narrative, present-tense and sensory detail, and the moments where the story skipped or went vague.

02

Body & report

Heart rate, heart-rate variability and skin conductance by segment, the highest-arousal moments, and where physiology and self-report agree or diverge.

03

Fidelity & guidance

Automated fidelity indicators with the rater's own ratings, processing themes, homework review, PCL-5 and change across sessions, with each point linked to the moment behind it.

Built by a clinician

MAP+PE comes from a licensed clinical psychologist who studies fear, exposure therapy and psychophysiology. It combines speech recognition, speaker diarization, language and acoustic analysis, and an open-source ECG and skin-conductance rig. Analysis runs on the clinician's own computer, and raw audio and signals are deleted once analyzed.

MAP+PE is a research prototype for trained PE clinicians and supervisors. It captures fidelity and offers guidance for the next session; automated indicators are confirmed by the clinician, thresholds are still being calibrated against expert-coded sessions, and clinical judgment governs. It does not diagnose.
